On the most atmospheric coastline of Attica, in Voula, a two-story residence on the top floors of an apartment building redefines what a “summer home” means through a radical and thoughtfully planned renovation. This is a five-bedroom maisonette, with each bedroom featuring its own en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet, transformed into a dynamic retreat of design intelligence, comfort, and Mediterranean elegance. The goal was clear: a home that hosts, impresses, and narrates contemporary Mediterranean culture through the power of materials, colors, and form. “The design focused on bringing the sea, the light, and the landscape into the resident’s everyday life, blending functionality with a poetic, almost theatrical aesthetic. It’s a holiday home, but with urban precision,” notes the team at South Constructions + Design. The living areas — lounge, dining room, and kitchen — are organized around the sea view, with the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces fading. The glass dining table set on statement tiles, the deep blue kitchen with a mix & match of materials, and the combination of marbles and ceramics create a scene full of bold design and imagination. The staircase, featuring a terracotta wall and handmade Italian tiles, acts as a vertical work of art.
The bedrooms function as micro-universes: each has its own color identity, materials, artworks, and lighting — all while maintaining a cohesive design language. The use of refined materials, from marble and glass to custom closets and ceramic tile headboards, expresses a Mediterranean luxury with depth and lasting value. The palette oscillates between calm and vibrant: white serves as a canvas, while blues, terracotta, greens, and yellows emerge through furniture, art, and objects. “We didn’t choose statement furniture. Every object is integrated into the composition as an architectural continuation,” the South+ team explains. On the rooftop, an open-air setting with a kitchen, built-in seating, dining area, and a stunning glass pool offers a summer experience with architectural cohesion and relaxed luxury. This residence is not merely a holiday home. It’s a stage for experiences — a contemporary Mediterranean manifesto that embodies hospitality, ease, and design maturity in every square meter.
