Fluid Joinery Side Table

The Fluid Joinery side table is the result of a collaboration between Cassina and Linde Freya Tangelder, a Belgian designer who explores the boundary between object and architecture. Her research focuses on solid materials and essential forms, reinterpreted with a sober but structured language. This project is part of the vision of Cassina, a benchmark brand of Italian design, which combines formal innovation and craftsmanship.Made of mouth-blown glass inside a cast iron mould, the coffee table reaches the maximum dimensions compatible with this technique. The manual workmanship produces slight variations between each piece, making each one unrepeatable. The glass, coloured in paste, is available in three shades – amber, smoked, blue – that interact with the light creating overlaps and variations in density.The curved, uninterrupted surfaces are engraved vertically: subtle marks that run through the volume and reinforce the impression of continuity. Designed to live alone or in combination with other elements in the series Fluid Joinery always maintains an autonomous and defined presence. Despite its apparent lightness, glass takes on a structural role here, giving shape to an object that combines technical precision and visual immediacy.
